Deploying on your website

Deploying on your website

Last update: Jumaat, Dis 20, 2024

To complete this process, you will need access to your website source code, you want to be comfortable editing HTML (or have a webmaster/developer who can help you), and have a Xeno account already set up.

To add the Xeno code to your website:

1. Find your Xeno code snippet

Sign in to your Xeno account

Once you are logged in to your Xeno on xenoapp.com, click on Deploy, in the left-hand side menu.

Find your Smart Code snippet in the Deploy section. It is the code with several lines of JavaScript in a box. Everything in the box is part of your Smart Code snippet. It starts with <script> and ends with </script>.

The code contains a unique Xeno key that corresponds to one of your Xeno chatboxes. You cannot reuse the same code snippet on multiple domains. Your key starts with "xpk".

2. Copy your Xeno code snippet

Copy the snippet but do not edit it. You might want to paste it into a text document if you're worried about accidentally losing or changing the snippet from your clipboard.

3. Paste your Xeno snippet

Paste your snippet (unaltered, in its entirety) onto every web page that will provide the Xeno customer service app to your visitors. We recommend you paste it immediately before the closing </body> tag.

If you use templates to generate dynamic pages for your site (if you use Rails, PHP, ASP, or a similar technology), you can paste the Smart Code snippet into its own file, and then include it in your page header.

If you use the advanced version of the snippet code: Please note that if you modify the snippet code to add the ID of your contact, make sure that the unique ID entered is that of your user and not of your team. This ID must be a positive number, different from zero. Also, two different contacts must never share the same ID.

4. Check that it is working as expected

Once you have uploaded your website code (including the Xeno snippet):

  • Visit your website as a visitor. The Xeno chatbox should appear in the bottom right-hand corner of your website.

  • Click on it and type something (such as: "Hey! Do you read me?')

  • In a new tab, open your Xeno account. You should find your message in a new conversation on the Conversations page.

  • If you can see your message, it means your Xeno integration works like a charm! Congrats! 🎉
