Adjusting your security settings

Adjusting your security settings

Last update: wtorek, cze 15, 2021

You can define some of the security settings from your Xeno account.

How should I set my security settings?

There is a field form on the Xeno security settings page. You should fill in this form with what is called an “authorized host.” An “authorized host” is the domain name of the website on which you deploy Xeno. It can be a localhost, or your website domain name, or any other domain name you've planned to equip with Xeno.

Please keep these instructions handy when filling in your security settings:

  • If you deploy Xeno on multiple websites, you should enter one domain per line.
  • You don’t need to include the subdomains of your website, as they are already included in the domain of your website (Subdomains are extensions of your domain name that you can forward to URLs or point to IP addresses and directories within your hosting account; usually, they are defined before your main domain name. For example, the format of the domain name is "YourDomain.com" with the format of the subdomain being "YourSubdomain.YourDomain.com").
  • You also don’t need to include “http://” or “https://” in the domain name. Simply writing your domain as "YourDomain.com" is enough. :)

Why do I need to configure my security settings?

By filling in the security settings, you’ll make sure your live chat only works on your own website. In other words, websites which are not listed in this space will not be allowed to run your live chat.

If you don’t fill in your security settings, any visitor will be able to copy and paste your javascript snippet from your website to their own website, or anywhere else. This could potentially become an issue for your team/company as you could receive conversations from visitors of websites other than your own.
